Les exploits de Chemineau, « indigne pirate et forban » dans les Îles du Vent, son amnistie et son retour en France à Rochefort, permettent de comprendre les pratiques et les caractéristiques de la piraterie antillaise au début du XVIII^e siècle. Chemineau est représentatif d’une carrière « réussie » de pirate pendant l’ « âge d’or » de la piraterie (1721-1723) dans le domaine colonial antillais.

The amazing adventures of an "infamous pirate and sea rogue" named Chemineau in the Windward Islands and the amnesty he was granted before returning home free are an illustration of the activities of pirates in the Caribbean Sea at the beginning of the 18th century. Chemineau is an example of a pirate's successful career during the golden age of sea piracy (1721-1723) in the French Caribbean possessions.
